A Perfect 10/10

I love that European kitchens are coming into style. I love that wood tones are coming back. I love big islands that look like antique tables and the whole family gathering around, and everyone (I mean everyone) helping in the kitchen. This design brings in all those elements, is incredibly functional, but, most importantly, is timeless in the most beautiful way. The thing about a custom kitchen is that every drawer and cabinet has a purpose, down to the 1/16th of an inch. So a small kitchen can be just as efficient......

Our next several posts are going to be focusing on one of my favourite kitchen designs from the last couple years and the many elements that went into making this space perfect. Let’s take a second and focus on The Island: it feels like the goal for the island was a heirloom harvest table meets versatile workspace – and she nailed it. I mean, c’mon. Wow. How much do I love this?! I’m not going to be able to look at my boring old stainless steel dishwasher the same ever again.  I love......

Modern Sensibilities

Dreamy and Pristine, our Downtown Cobourg New Build showcases a bright and airy open concept plan with a full butlers pantry. When we were working through the design of this beautiful kitchen space in a completely rebuilt home in old downtown, we wanted to bring in the texture and dimension of the muted cabinetry in the small details. Simple shaker doors, clean lines, decorative crown, and a custom range hood that is both simple and detailed. How to keep a clean modern look but still incorporate traditional details without feeling stuck between time......

When a house became a home.

One thing I love – and I mean love – about a brand new home is getting to see it months or even years after the final touches have been done. Newness is nice, but that lived-in feeling of a house that has settled into being a “home” is really what its all about. When we first met our clients, before the first shovel went into the ground, when the house was just an idea and the kitchen just a concept, the cutest little man in the pictures (the star of our shoot)......

Sophisticated Home

I could look at this kitchen all day.  Through fine details and modern functionality, this renovation was a total transformation. An open and refined workspace that is welcoming and bright with a cozy breakfast nook to relax with family.  This is also a great example of why custom cabinetry is worth it, especially working with a major renovation. Each cabinet is designed specific to the space, and built to maximize the potential of the room. The matching custom panels on the panel-ready-fridge make this appliance look built-in, rather than a focal point, which......

Pretty Modern

We’ve had a few kitchen’s in the queue waiting to be posted, but the wait was worth it. What is it about a loved-in kitchen that makes for so much inspiration? The white shaker doors are simple and timeless, and somehow manage to feel modern, while all the little details, hardware and backsplash, keep things pretty. (And just so you know, all of these beautifully designed spaces are the vision of the families who live and work in their homes everyday – with all the funtional details that make working and living there......

The Butler's Pantry

Everyone wants a butler’s pantry, and I’m one of them. Actually, I also want a butler. And since I can only dream of either of them at this point, I’m going to show off this gorgeous modern farmhouse kitchen with its peek-a-boo butler’s pantry that’s just everything.  The pantry is the most practical part of the kitchen. It hides the dry food and stores oils and necessities that we aren’t using at all times. If you ask me what the most overrated kitchen trend of the “aughts” was, hands-down, open shelving takes it.......

New Kitchen.

Old West End. Stepping out of the car into the street, I have this sense that the Avenue’s, or “the old west end” (as us locals have casually come to know it), has something special about it – something aside from the light distilling through the mature maples and the stillness amid the din of the city. There is an expectation here. I guess it starts with the common knowledge that when we get a call for a quote in “the old west end” it’s going to be meticulously designed, thoroughly reviewed, and......

We ran a fun little draw to win this beauty custom walnut mantel for our past clientele. Word of mouth has been our primary way of doing business. We meet great people (with great design ideas, which is the reason we can put such beautiful kitchens and cabinetry together) who then post and share their experiences. And, because we know that the kitchen build process can be arduous, and all of our clients so far have been happy with their experience, the word gets around. We only post pictures of our own work......

Let’s talk shop.

It’s time to get into the kitchen process. Not the design aspect of it necessarily, although we may dig in there once in awhile, but more about what you’re getting into and what you should be prepared for, and what should should look for in your quotes. All those aspects of a renovation or a new build that no one ever seems to want to talk about. I love shop talk. You get the first-hand, tried and true methods from people who practice what they preach and love talking about when everything comes......
